Shakugan no Shana (灼眼のシャナ, lit. Burning-Eyed Shana), also known simply as Shana, is a Japanese light novel series written by Yashichiro Takahashi, with illustrations by Noizi Ito. ASCII Media Works published 25 novels from November 2002 to October 2011 under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. The story focuses on Yuji Sakai, a high school boy who inadvertently becomes involved in an age-old conflict between forces of balance and imbalance in existence. In the process, he befriends a fighter for the balancing force and names her "Shana". The series incorporates fantasy and slice of life elements into its tale.

Fourteen works from Japan will be featured at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, one of the world's largest events of its kind.
The festival in France will run from June 4 to 9.
This year, 2,374 titles, not including feature films, were submitted for competition in seven categories, and 164 works were selected.

The animeanime.jp website reported this weekend that the second Tiger & Bunny film will open in Japan next year. On Thursday, the anime's official website confirmed the September 22 opening date for the first film, Gekijō-ban Tiger & Bunny -The Beginning-, that was leaked by theaters.

Ninja Scroll (獣兵衛忍風帖) is a 1993 action thriller anime film set in feudal Japan, written and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri. The character designs were done by Yutaka Minowa. The movie is in homage to the Ninpōchō series of ninja novels by Futaro Yamada. The main character, Kibagami Jubei, is an homage to the famed Japanese folk hero Yagyu Jubei Mitsuyoshi.
The film was released on June 5, 1993, and received a Western release on December 6, 1995, and was critically acclaimed. The movie was also released in some regions as Jubei Ninpucho: The Wind Ninja Chronicles. It is licensed by Manga Entertainment in North America.

Another (アナザー) is a mystery horror novel by Yukito Ayatsuji, published on October 29, 2009 by Kadokawa Shoten. The story focuses on a boy named Koichi Sakakibara who, upon transferring into Yomomiya Middle School and meeting the curious Mei Misaki, finds himself in a mystery revolving around students and people related to his class facing gruesome, senseless deaths. A manga adaptation by Hiro Kiyohara was serialized between the May 2010 and January 2012 in the issues of Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace.
A 12-episode TV anime series produced by P.A. Works aired in Japan between January 10 and March 27, 2012, and a live-action film will be released in Japanese theatres on August 4, 2012.

Set primarily at the beginning of Edo period of Japan (early 17th century), with anthropomorphic animals replacing humans, the series features a rabbit ronin, Miyamoto Usagi, whom Stan Sakai based partially on the famous swordsman Miyamoto Musashi.

Ore no Imoto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai (俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない / There's No Way My Little Sister is This Cute), also known as Ore no Imoto (俺の妹) or Oreimo (俺妹) for short, is a Japanese light novel series written by Tsukasa Fushimi, with illustrations provided by Hiro Kanzaki. Nine volumes have been published since August 2008. A manga adaptation drawn by Sakura Ikeda was serialized in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G's Magazine. A 12-episode anime adaptation produced by AIC aired in Japan between October and December 2010. Four additional episodes, which offer a different ending to the broadcast series, were streamed monthly via the official website and other video streaming sites between February and May 2011, before being released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in June and July 2011. A second anime season has been announced.

Angelic Layer (エンジェリックレイヤー) is a manga series released by Clamp. The manga is published in Japan by Kadokawa Shoten, and in English originally by Tokyopop, but has since been re-licensed by Dark Horse Comics. It is the group's first work to use a quite different art style unseen in any other CLAMP series, which uses a more distinctly pared down style. There is less emphasis on detail and more on accentuated posing and gestures. This kind of artwork would later be used in series like Chobits and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle.

It was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995; later the 519 individual chapters were published into 42 tankobon volumes by Shueisha. Dragon Ball was inspired by the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West. The series follows the adventures of the protagonist Goku from his childhood through adulthood as he trains in martial arts and explores the world in search of the seven mystical orbs known as the Dragon Balls, which can summon a wish-granting dragon when gathered. Along his journey, Goku makes several friends and battles a wide variety of villains, many of whom also seek the Dragon Balls for their own desires.

Vagabond (バガボンド) is an ongoing manga by Takehiko Inoue, portraying a fictionalized account of Miyamoto Musashi's life, on a loose adaptation of Eiji Yoshikawa's novel Musashi.
The manga has been serialized in Kodansha's seinen Weekly Morning magazine since 1998 in Japan, with translations to English by VIZ Media. As of February 2011, 33 tankōbon volumes have been published in Japan, and all 33 of them have been translated into English in the United States. Vagabond has, to this date, sold more than 22 million copies throughout the world.

Akira (アキラ) is a 1988 Japanese animated cyberpunk science fiction film directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, written by Otomo and Izo Hashimoto, and starring the voices of Mitsuo Iwata, Nozomu Sasaki, Mami Koyama and Taro Ishida. The screenplay is based on Otomo's manga Akira.
The film depicts a dystopian Neo-Tokyo in 2019. The plot focuses on biker Tetsuo Shima (Nozomu Sasaki) and his psychic powers and the biker gang member Shotaro Kaneda (Mitsuo Iwata), who tries to prevent Tetsuo from releasing the dangerous psychic Akira. While most of the character designs and basic settings were adapted from the original 2182-page manga epic, the restructured plot of the movie differs considerably from the print version, pruning much of the last half of the manga. The film became a hugely popular cult film and is widely considered to be a landmark in Japanese animation and filmmaking in general.

An anime adaptation produced by Production I.G will air in Fuji TV's Noitamina slot in October 2012. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Keiji Asakawa, began serialization in the March 2012 issue of Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine.
