Trigun / Japanese Anime & Manga

Trigun (トライガン, Toraigan) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yasuhiro Nightow, published from 1995 to 2007 and spanning 17 (3+14) collected volumes.

The manga was serialized in Tokuma Shoten's Shōnen Captain from the series debut in 1995 until the magazine's demise in 1997. The series continued in Shōnen Gahosha's Young King Ours magazine, under the title Trigun Maximum (トライガンマキシマム, Toraigan Makishimamu), where it remained until finishing in 2007.

The series began in 2006, and has been collected into 7 volumes so far by publisher Shogakukan. The manga was licensed for distribution in North America by Viz Media.

Unique manga the top winners in 4th Morning International Comic Competition

The weekly Morning comic magazine has announced on its website the winners of its 4th Morning International Comic Competition (MICC).
MICC is a contest for manga created around the world.
This year, the grand prize went to Kim Dae-jin's "The Unreverberating Echo." The South Korean manga-ka's surreal work is published in Kodansha Ltd.'s Morning Two comic magazine, released Aug. 21, and can also be viewed in its entirety on the competition's official website.

Banana Fish

Banana Fish is a classic shōjo manga by Akimi Yoshida which ran from 1985 to 1994 and spawned several mini-spin-offs: Private Opinion, Angel Eyes, X Men, and The Garden with Holy Light. The series was very popular in Japan.
The name is most likely inspired by the short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish by J.D. Salinger.

Chibi Maruko-chan (ちびまる子ちゃん) is a shōjo manga series by Momoko Sakura, later adapted into an anime TV series by Nippon Animation, which originally aired on Fuji Television from January 7, 1990 to September 27, 1992.

'Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection' deluxe box set due out in October

Fans of "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" will be excited to hear a complete box set is being released this fall. The movie, which hit theaters in December 2009, was the first big-screen revival of the famous spaceship in 26 years.
The box set will contain a deluxe book featuring model sheets and other key information, a collection of storyboards, a print of an original illustration from the film, and more for a total of 12 items.

New "Chibi Maruko-chan" stamps due Sept. 22

Japan Post Service Co. is releasing its 14th series of stamps featuring the popular "Chibi Maruko-chan" anime character.
The series is one of the most popular of its special postal stamps. A sheet of stamps contains 10 80-yen stamps, depicting different scenes about Maruko, her family and her friends. A sheet costs 800 yen ($9.31).

Anime Cine Experience event a first for India's anime fans

Anime Cine Experience, the first major event aimed at introducing Japanese anime and manga to India, was held Aug. 20-22 in New Delhi, the country's largest metropolis.
The event was put together by local film club Cinedarbaar, the Embassy of Japan, the Japan Foundation, India's Directorate of Film Festivals and a local Japanese association.
