The anime "The Wolf Children, Ame and Yuki" made its world premiere late last month at a packed Paris theater to a standing ovation.
The new film, by critically acclaimed director Mamoru Hosoda, was screened at the UGC Cine Cite Les Halles, the largest cinema complex in the French capital. Hosoda and Aoi Miyazaki, an actress who provided the voice of one of the film's characters, made a stage appearance at the premiere.

The One Piece Grand Arena Tour, dedicated to the popular pirate manga and anime series by Eiichiro Oda, will travel to Saitama, Ehime, Fukui and Miyagi prefectures from Aug. 9.
The tour, featuring life-sized models of Luffy and his fellow Straw Hat Pirates and memorable scenes from the stories, is an example of a recent trend in the anime industry of producing large-scale live events based on famous franchises.

Kindaichi Case Files (金田一少年の事件簿) is a serialized Japanese mystery manga series based on the crime solving adventures of a high school student, Hajime Kindaichi, the supposed grandson of the famous (fictional) private detective Kosuke Kindaichi. They are written by Yozaburo Kanari or Seimaru Amagi (depending on series) and illustrated by Fumiya Sato. The Kindaichi series, which started serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 1992, is one of the earliest works in the mystery manga genre. In 1995, the manga won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen.

Even though no train has stopped at the old Kofuku (happiness) Station on the now-defunct Hiroo Line in 25 years, two new mascot "station goddessess" characters have been designated to welcome fans.
The station, in Obihiro, Hokkaido, has continued to attract visitors who hope for some luck from the happy name, even after the railway line ended operations in 1987.
To further promote the ever-popular station, the mascots Miyuki and Megumi were introduced on June 22 at its official website.

Anime & Manga Japan / New anime theater opens in Tokyo's Asagaya district


A new theater dedicated to anime opened June 29 in Tokyo's Asagaya district, home to an art cinema, animation studios and art schools.
The Chiisana Gakko Gekijo is operated by Laputa Art Animation School, which turned its 45-seat screening room into a mini theater open to the public.
Chiisana Gakko Gekijo will screen 52 works of animation created by Laputa Art Animation School students under the title of "Daisuki Art Animation." The theater will show the works in four programs until July 8.

The Kobe city government will host the Kobe Pop Culture Festival on July 14-16 at various venues in the city's Shin-Nagata district, known as one of the most severely devastated areas in the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake.
Today, the district has recovered and has increasingly become more anime and manga-oriented in recent years. It is serving as home to a giant statue of the comic book hero Tetsujin 28-go (aka "Gigantor") robot, anime studio Anitus-Kobe and the Kobe Three Kingdoms Garden museum devoted to the great Chinese historical epic "Romance of the Three Kingdoms."

According to Comic Natalie, a new 「Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon」 anime is currently in production by Toei Animation — slated to premiere in Summer 2013. The announcement was originally made at a streamed live event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the series. Idol group Momoiro Clover Z has been assigned to perform the opening theme. Voice actress Mitsuishi Kotono will be reprising her role as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon.

Mazinger Z (マジンガーZ), known briefly as Tranzor Z in the United States, is a Super Robot manga and anime series created by Go Nagai. The first manga version was serialized in Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump from October 1972 to August 1973, and it later continued in Kodansha TV Magazine from October 1973 to September 1974. In December 1972, the anime version premiered on Fuji Television. The TV series ended September 1, 1974. A second manga series was released alongside the TV show, this one drawn by Gosaku Ota, which started and ended almost at the same time of the TV show.

Toymaker Bandai Co. said it will present its new Mazinger Z die-cast metal figure at various events across the globe, starting at the Japan Expo to be held in Paris on July 5-8.
The "DX Soul of Chogokin Mazinger Z" set, which includes a 30-centimeter-tall figure of the Mazinger Z robot, will then be showcased at the San Diego Comic-Con International convention on July 12-15, before moving to a Hong Kong event in August.

"Harbor Tale," an animated short directed by Yuichi Ito and produced by Japanese animation studio I.Toon Ltd., won the Golden Slipper award for best animated film at the 52nd annual Zlin Film Festival held in the Czech Republic.
The short also received the Golden Apple audience award for best animated film from one of the world's oldest film festivals, which was held May 27-June 3.

Enterbrain began publishing the light novel in 2010 and has so far released five volumes, selling over 450,000 copies in total. It has received several manga adaptations.
In June 2012, Pony Canyon announced that it will produce an anime series based on it.
