"Jewelpet Tinkle" girls' anime gets second season

'Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in the Sky' online and in-store shops to open

On April 17, "Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in the Sky," the 14th and the latest in the "Detective Conan" anime film series, will be released.
To mark the event, online and in-store shops featuring the anime characters will also open.
The new Conan anime feature film follows "The Raven Chaser," which opened in 2009 to become the biggest hit in the series.
In "Lost Ship," Conan, the brilliant detective trapped in a child's body, faces down his archrival, Phantom Thief Kid while both are held on an airship from which neither appears able to escape.

"Jewelpet Tinkle" girls' anime gets second season

"Jewelpet Tinkle," a TV anime series designed to appeal especially to young girls, heads into its second season in April with a whole new look.
The first change is its TV Tokyo time slot--from 9:30 a.m. Sunday to 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Its story line and characters have also been given a makeover.

Still produced by We've Inc., "Jewelpet Tinkle" features an ordinary little girl named Akari Sakura. Her life changes when she becomes friends with Ruby the Jewelpet, denizen of a magical world called Jewel Land.
Akari strives to become a Jewel Star whose every wish comes true. Offering a bright, colorful atmosphere exuding cuteness, the show aims to present a world of love accented by comedy.

ANIME NEWS: Bandai introduces augmented reality app for interactive card game

Bandai Co. has launched a campaign for its Data Carddas collectible card game "Data Carddas Supersentai Battle: Dice-O" featuring augmented reality (AR) technology.
When iPhone users who install a special reader application scan a game card with their phones, animated combat scenes and TV commercials can be viewed on the iPhone screen.
The iPhone application can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
With AR technology, images not usually visible are revealed when digital data is scanned.

ANIME NEWS: 3-D "The Shock Labyrinth" makes waves in Taiwan

Japan's first major live action 3-D film, "Senritsu Meikyu 3D" (The Shock Labyrinth) is making big waves.
The news comes amid rising interest worldwide in 3-D movie-making and, in particular, this film's cutting-edge experimental features.
Ripples have spread as far afield as Taiwan. Over its opening weekend there on March 20-21, "The Shock Labyrinth" came in second at the box-office only to Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland."
