Library opens up public access to 1,800 original anime magazines

As of April 25, the Yoshihiro Yonezawa Memorial Library of Manga and Subcultures operated by Meiji University opened up to its collection of about 1,800 anime magazines to the public for viewing.

Toymaker Takara Tomy Co. has released eight action figures of key characters in the "Saikyo Bushoden Sangoku Engi" TV anime series, now airing on the TV Tokyo network.

The posable figures' neck, shoulder, elbow, waist and other joints move freely, allowing fans to recreate and enjoy the anime story's world.

HIGASHI-OSAKA, Osaka Prefecture--The rising sun will leave its mark on the moon, if all goes according to plan.

An innovative Osaka group of small factories has announced its intention to put a bipedal humanoid robot on the lunar surface by 2015.

The Space Oriented Higashiosaka Leading Association (SOHLA) said it will utilize its experience of developing and putting the Maido-1 satellite into orbit last year.

About 200 people lined up on Saturday for the early-morning opening of the first official "Gundam"-themed cafe, based on the popular sci-fi animation series.

Female staff members dressed as characters from the series welcomed customers to the cafe in Tokyo's Akihabara district when its doors opened at 8.30 a.m.

The 140-square meter shop, operated by the toy maker Bandai Co., seats 60 people. It is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays. Alcoholic drinks are sold from 5 p.m.

"Fullmetal Alchemist" postage stamps to go on sale June 14

Japan Post Service Co. will issue a sheet of postage stamps on June 14 featuring characters in the "Fullmetal Alchemist" anime series, the 13th of its "Anime Heroes and Heroines" stamp collections.

The "Anime Heroes and Heroines" stamps are issued in cooperation with the Association of Japanese Animations. Each series has been greeted with enthusiasm by anime fans.
