The anime "The Wolf Children, Ame and Yuki" made its world premiere late last month at a packed Paris theater to a standing ovation.
The new film, by critically acclaimed director Mamoru Hosoda, was screened at the UGC Cine Cite Les Halles, the largest cinema complex in the French capital. Hosoda and Aoi Miyazaki, an actress who provided the voice of one of the film's characters, made a stage appearance at the premiere.

The One Piece Grand Arena Tour, dedicated to the popular pirate manga and anime series by Eiichiro Oda, will travel to Saitama, Ehime, Fukui and Miyagi prefectures from Aug. 9.
The tour, featuring life-sized models of Luffy and his fellow Straw Hat Pirates and memorable scenes from the stories, is an example of a recent trend in the anime industry of producing large-scale live events based on famous franchises.

Kindaichi Case Files (金田一少年の事件簿) is a serialized Japanese mystery manga series based on the crime solving adventures of a high school student, Hajime Kindaichi, the supposed grandson of the famous (fictional) private detective Kosuke Kindaichi. They are written by Yozaburo Kanari or Seimaru Amagi (depending on series) and illustrated by Fumiya Sato. The Kindaichi series, which started serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 1992, is one of the earliest works in the mystery manga genre. In 1995, the manga won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen.

Even though no train has stopped at the old Kofuku (happiness) Station on the now-defunct Hiroo Line in 25 years, two new mascot "station goddessess" characters have been designated to welcome fans.
The station, in Obihiro, Hokkaido, has continued to attract visitors who hope for some luck from the happy name, even after the railway line ended operations in 1987.
To further promote the ever-popular station, the mascots Miyuki and Megumi were introduced on June 22 at its official website.

A new theater dedicated to anime opened June 29 in Tokyo's Asagaya district, home to an art cinema, animation studios and art schools.
The Chiisana Gakko Gekijo is operated by Laputa Art Animation School, which turned its 45-seat screening room into a mini theater open to the public.
Chiisana Gakko Gekijo will screen 52 works of animation created by Laputa Art Animation School students under the title of "Daisuki Art Animation." The theater will show the works in four programs until July 8.

The Kobe city government will host the Kobe Pop Culture Festival on July 14-16 at various venues in the city's Shin-Nagata district, known as one of the most severely devastated areas in the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake.
Today, the district has recovered and has increasingly become more anime and manga-oriented in recent years. It is serving as home to a giant statue of the comic book hero Tetsujin 28-go (aka "Gigantor") robot, anime studio Anitus-Kobe and the Kobe Three Kingdoms Garden museum devoted to the great Chinese historical epic "Romance of the Three Kingdoms."
